So you’ve decided to switch to DIY Sugar Waxing but you don’t have a clue where to start, that’s ok, we gotchu sis!
Welcome, it’s nothing but sweetness over here!
In this blog, you’ll find everything you need to know for a seamless hair removal experience.
Happy Sugaring!
1) Exfoliate Regularly
Exfoliation is SUPER important when it comes to hair removal.
Regular exfoliation rids the skin’s surface of product build-up (oils and lotions), dead skin cells, and helps to prevent bacteria, sweat, and dirt from getting stuck underneath the skin’s surface.
Exfoliating two or three times a week can unclog pores and help you to avoid the ingrown hairs and bumps that are usually associated with hair regrowth.
Please note, always exfoliate 48 hours BEFORE your Sugaring Session and 48 hours AFTER your Sugaring Session. This is to prevent irritation of the skin.
We recommended using exfoliating gloves. You can purchase here.
2) Trim Hair
Sugaring hurts less when the hair is shorter.
Using a pair of scissors, carefully trim the hair to at least a ¼ inch (about the length of a rice grain) before application.
If the hair is too long, it will impact the effectiveness of the procedure.
3) Sugar Wax in a cool room
Excess body heat and sweat can impact the Sugaring process by causing the Sugaring Wax to melt.
For best results, use in a cool room and store the Sugaring Wax in a cool and dry place away from moisture, direct heat and sunlight.
If you find that you are sweating excessively, apply a drying powder throughout the sugaring session to absorb the moisture. We recommend Newd Gyal Organic All-Natural Drying Powder
4) Apply/Mold in thin layers
Newd Gyal Organic Sugaring wax is a strip wax formula. This is to facilitate easier application and removal, especially in those hard to reach places.
For the application to be effective, the Sugaring Wax must be molded in THIN LAYERS at least three to four times before being removed with either a disposable or fabric wax strip.

5) Avoid Bruising
To avoid getting bruises while Sugaring, ensure you are removing the wax strip correctly.
Always pull/flick parallel to the skin. NEVER pull up and away.
With your non-sugaring hand, hold your skin tight! When you think you’re holding it tight…Hold tighter! The less give there is in your skin, the less tugging and the less chance of bruising there will be.
6) Remain Calm
Nervousness and stress can trigger an increase in body temperature.
This will cause the Sugaring Wax to melt and make your Sugaring experience unnecessarily uncomfortable.
Remain calm, hold the skin tight and pull the wax strip in one swift motion.
Immediately afterwards, use your clean, non-sugaring hand to gently compress the area to cool it.
We hope these Sugaring Tips prove to be helpful.
